""The building is habitable but it's to the point where if it really needs something, we're trying to keep it up to date. If you have a poor building, you will have poor morale," Wellsburg Fire Chief Henry Jerzak said. "With questions about FEMA money and finances we don't want to put too much money into the old building. It's just not home anymore. The building is still settling after the flood. It's just a matter of time before the water comes through again and we'd like to be out of there before then."...The fire house is near the confluence of Bentley Creek and the Chemung River and like much of downtown Wellsburg, was ravaged by floods triggered by Tropical Storm Lee in September 2011...Village officials expected federal aid to cover the full $3 million cost of rebuilding, but when a check from FEMA finally arrived, it was for $2.3 million."
