This casino originally opened on October 13, 2001 as the Coquitlam Casino. In 2005, the casino was purchased by Great Canadian Gaming and it underwent a massive redevelopment. The casino tripled in size with the addition of 60,000 square feet to the gaming area; a 660,000-square-foot, six-level, 1600-vehicle parkade; and an 1100-seat show theatre. The casino reopened on November 17, 2005 as Boulevard Casino. On July 3, 2013, the announcement was made that Boulevard Casino would be rebranded to become Canada's first Hard Rock Casino. Following a multi-million dollar renovation and rebranding, the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver opened on December 20, 2013.
