Mr. Gregory's sandstone marker would fit in better with burials of the mid- to late nineteenth century, as these are far less common in the 1930s. A cross is below his name, with this inscription:

It's not clear whether the creator of the headstone simply ran out of space for that remaining -y, or whether the stone has been damaged.
