The sculpture is mounted upon a tapered shaft set upon a three-tiered base. The sculpture was installed by Jefferson Davis Camp No. 117, United Confederate Veterans of Mills County and the Woman's Self Culture Club of Mills County in memory of Jefferson Davis Camp members who served during the Civil War. The sculpture was dedicated on Independence Day, July 4, 1915.
