From 1977 USGS MONUMENTATION NOTES: China Hat Guard Station, 10.6 mi N. of along FS Rd. 1821, thence 4.2 mi N. along FS Rd. 2023; 198 ft W. rd. W.; on east side of basalt formation, 2 ft above ground, 1 ft SW. of witness sign wedged in rock; standard tablet stamped “21WS 1977 4541”.
