The ENGINEERING LABORATORY is north of the Physics Building. The main laboratory is 40 by 220 feet and contains three divisions a materials laboratory, a hydraulics laboratory and a steam and gas engine laboratory all served by a five-ton electric traveling crane.
Graf Hall, constructed in 1920, originally included a materials lab, a hydraulics lab, and a steam and gas engine lab, all served by a 5-ton electric crane. The building was designed by John Bennes, an architect who designed other college buildings on the Oregon State campus as well. In 1967 the building was renamed to Graf Hall in Samuel Graf's memory. Graf was a renowned engineer with multiple degrees in engineering and was part of the OAC faculty for many years. On both the north and south entrances to Graf Hall there are metal plates with the name 'Graf Hall' covering the original name. Also, the second floor of Graf Hall is currently being used as a driving and bicycle simulator research lab.
