Architectural History:
Graf Hall is a rectangular building constructed in the Moderne construction style. Graf Hall has 3 stories and has had construction done to it twice in its history. The walls are made up of concrete, brick and wood. Graf Hall has a concrete foundation. Alterations: 1951: Remodeled; 1980's: partial infill of 2-story shop area Landscape: Large bushes nearly reaching to the building second floor dominate much of the north side of the building as well as the west side of the building. On the north side of the building in between the large bushes there are 2 small patches of grass. On the south side of the building there is a few small scrubs, however the majority of the south side is dominated by a cement parking lot. Setting: Graf Hall is located on the main campus of Oregon State University on the north end of campus along Monroe Street. The building is located north of Covell Hall and east of Rogers Hall. It is also west of the Merryfield Annex. Alterations: 1951: Remodeled; 1980's: partial infill of 2-story shop area.
Background History
From 1920 to about 1966/7 the building was known as the Engineering Laboratories. Then after 1966/7 the name of the building was changed to Graf Hall, which has been its name ever since.
