Frank P. Wojtkiewicz was born in Westfield, MA on December 4, 1908. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Chief Machinist's Mate on the USS Arizona. On December 7, 1941 the battleship USS Arizona was anchored in Pearl Harbor, HI when it was bombed, exploded, and sunk during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Chief Petty Officer Frank P. Wojtkiewicz was one of the 1,177 officers and crewmen of the USS Arizona that were killed that day. The wreck of the USS Arizona could still lies where it sunk at the bottom of Pearl Harbor.

In Wojtkiewicz Park a river stone honors the memory of Frank P. Wojtkiewicz, the only resident of Westfield to die during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The stone is inscribed in engraved gold lettering: FRANK P. WOJTKIEWCICZ. The side of the front is likewise engraved with the date: DEC 7 1941
