"It was originally built on the "Lowman Family" property. Ward and Julia (Lowman) Saunders owned the property that the school was built on; there was a provision that when it was no longer used as a school, that the property and building would revert back to the family, which it did. One of Ward's children (Judy Saunders Ripley) lived in the house for several years (in the 1980's); it is now vacant, but still owned by Julia Saunders, who lives in Lowman, NY 14861 (Town of Chemung, NY)...it is a one room school that taught 1-8 grades...the left side of building was the schooling area and the right side is what was in that day the gym."
