Unveiled by Lord Goshen on Friday 17 May 1901, the monument which is to the memory of those who fell at Ladysmith and elsewhere in South Africa who were members of HMS 'Powerful'. The monument is an obelisk of reddish brown Peterhead granite 24 ft. high.
