In Bucksport, within the Fort Knox State Park, is this ambulance carriage on display outside of the fort walls.
Fort Knox State Park is located along the Penobscot River and is south of the center of Bucksport. It is next to the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. The ambulance is north of the fort, by the main entrance path to the fort. It is behind a brick structure that is currently used as a museum display.
The horse-drawn carriage is a wooden structure with a canvas top. It has a metal frame. There are four large spoked wheels. On the side of the canvas is a large red cross and, "Ambulance" above it.
I did not see any documentation of it either there or online. It is likely that, since the fort was built just prior to the U.S. Civil War, this ambulance is from near this era.
