The buggers is the ancestral home of the Marais Breton. It is built from elements found on site, the mud and reeds. Here, there are no trees. The walls are clay and thatch roof. Sometimes we find a beautiful wooden beam that was recovered from a galleon that ran aground.
Generally the buggers has only vast and unique ground clay. With mud walls, the house is necessarily low. It does not storey which also helps to fight against the wind. Furniture must not touch the walls to prevent moisture.
Over time, the bourrine evolved. There are always low houses with tiled roof, protected by a few pines. The walls are no longer planted. Thatched roofs are increasingly rare, but you can still see some near this cache.
