The Library Quad is surrounded by the Pharmacy Building along the east side, Milne Computer Center and Kidder Hall on the north side, and the Valley Library and Gladys Valley Gymnastics Center on the south side. It was erected around 1910 and is listed as site #OS-002 in the Oregon State University National Historic District. This open space is part of the original land purchase before this area became a college campus. The Library Quad is marked by a system of walkways through the quads' center. The areas nearer buildings have tree-lined walkways, shrubbery, and some flower beds. The Library quad was built on recommendations by the Olmsted Brothers firm as part of a 60-page detailed report for the campus layout.
