Christ's Church was built in 1871 to replace the earlier church that burnt down in 1870, extensions took place in 1994. The church was constructed in the Victorian Free Gothic style of local limestone with a shingle roof, later covered with red tiles to match those of the later extensions.
After extensions to the old church were completed in 1994 the parish's next project was a new bell tower from which the bells rang out for the first time on April 5th 1998. Six of the bells came from the Oxford church of St Mary Magdalene and date from 1874 and the other two were cast in 1997. The bells are rung every Sunday to summon the faithful to church as well as at weddings and funerals.
