This little turtle was headed for the lake in August 2015 on a back road in Epworth Forest. There isn't much traffic at all (its a dead end road) so we just observed and enjoyed. Within minutes the turtle was in the nearby lake.
The turtle was a midland painted turtle wich are common here near the lake and DNR wildlife areas.

Describe what happened. Example
"Mother Blanding had made her nest between the goldenrod and bluestem outside my window late last June.
By chance we were sitting on the porch when we noticed little blandings in the same location we had seen the mother take 2 months earlier."
