Christ's Church was built in 1871 to replace the earlier church that burnt down in 1870, extensions took place in 1994. The church was constructed in the Victorian Free Gothic style of local limestone with a shingle roof, later covered with red tiles to match those of the later extensions.
The churchyard was consecrated on 29 November 1880,and contains over 300 graves including those of Thomas Peel, Winjan, members of the pioneering Cooper, Eacott, Hall, Smart, Sutton and Tuckey families, early schoolmasters Robert Mewburn and Robert Dalrymple and their wives, and some passengers of the ill-fated James Service, a 441 ton iron barque which ran aground on part of the Murray Reef on 23 July 1878, losing all hands, the anchor (WMNT0D) is a feature of the graveyard
