EN: This fountain is located on the west facade of the church of Ziefen. The stone slab bears the inscription:
"In memory of our unforgettable pastoral care of the local community
J. Linder Basel
Pastor here 1813-1833
and whose son
Rud. Linder
Pastor here 1851-1858
dedicated by a faithful disciple and parishioner in Zifen
1867 J. Recher Koch"

Johannes Linder (1790-1853) was not only priest, but also a major supporter of education in the entire canton. He introduced new teaching methods and initiated school buildings. He sided with the city in the conflicts around the separation of the canton, so he had to leave Ziefen hastily in 1833 and later acted in Basel-Stadt and briefly in Neuchâtel. I could not find any information about his son Rud(olf).

J. Linder Basel
Pfarrer dahier 1813-1833
u. dessen Sohn
Rud. Linder
Pfarrer dahier 1851-1858
gewiedmet von einem treuen Schüler u. Pfarrkind in Zifen
1867 J. Recher Koch"
