The Mandurah Rd footbridge was originally constructed in 1974 across the Mitchell Freeway at Britannia St in Leederville when there were only three lanes in either durection. In 1991 the bridge was removed to allow for a railway down the middle reserve and an increase in the number of lanes , subsequently a new footbridge was installed in 1992 and the old bridge was transported and erected in it's present position 80km to the south
