The Memorial Union Quad is a large, grassy open space that is surrounded on all four sides with buildings that are part of the Oregon State University National Historic District. The National Register of Historic Places Registration Form lists the construction date of the quad as circa 1910 and is listed as site #OS-003. This would coincide with the Olmsted Brothers Firm's architectural plan for the OSU campus that was detailed in a 60-page report in 1909. The Olmsted Brothers Firm was an offshoot of the renowned Frederick Law Olmsted firm that designed many parks and campuses across the country in mid-to-late 1800s.
