In Belfast, near the dock by the harbor, is the Belfast Chamber Information Center.
The center is located in a free standing building on the east side of Main Street, near Front Street. The building is two stories high and is painted in bright red, white and blue. Painted on the building is the name Consumers Fuel Company. The door to the chamber center is on the right side. There is a sign stating the address is 12 Main Street (with a listing of other addresses that used to apply to the building).
The office includes stands with brochures and a penny smasher. The people there were very helpful. It was here that they told us of a new event about to happen that morning on Labor Day. "Passey Pete the Clairvoyant Lobster" was going to direct the chamber to the correct prediction on whether summer was going to last. We did end up attending - which included a TV camera crew - 'Pete' had them read the scroll stating that there were six more weeks of summer (Uh, huh).
