"Per bend Argent and Gules, overall a Key palewise counterchanged." (Flags of the World)
The flag of Niederdorf is a picture of the founding history of the town, althoug it was only introduced in 1938. The key of St. Peter stands for the patron saint of the church of Onoldswil, a medieval village that was destroyed in a landslide in 1295. The diagonal division stands for this landslide and the division of the southernmost and northernmost village parts that survived the disaster and developed into Oberdorf ("Uptown") and Niederdorf ("Downtown"). Inside the key there is an "N" for Niederdorf. Neighboring Oberdorf has a very similar flag, just in blue with an "O" inside the key.
I found this flag in the town center at the main street and railway line on a small stripe of green with a bench and three flag poles.
