The Old Rockport Church now stands in Rockport State Park, 4.5 miles south of the nearest town, Wanship, Utah. Until 1956 it stood about 1.5 miles further south, amid a loose collection of farms, a saw mill and a grist mill. The small town was called Rockport, now a ghost town.
The white-frame, one room building was constructed in 1892 and used by the surrounding communities for church services, weddings, community events, meetings & dances. It served the community at large until 1956 when a dam was finished on the Weber River, ultimately flooding the area.
The old church stood unused at its new location and slowly fell into disrepair. In 2005 a restoration of the old church was mounted and the building once again came to life. The Old Church at Rockport State Park is now on display in a small campground, mirroring it’s former setting, just a bit over 4 miles south of the nearest town of Wanship Utah. The entire area still retains it's rural appeal.
