Historie obce
Doklady osídlení území pocházejí už ze starší doby kamenné. První zmínku o obci je možné najít v listine z roku 1235, v níž papež Rehor IX. vzal pod svou ochranu cisterciácký klášter v Predklášterí u Tišnova. Pri této príležitosti papež zminuje obec Chieniz, jenž prináleží klášteru.
V roce 1418 ceský král Václav IV. dává Knínice lénem Janu z Lomnice za jeho verné služby. Prívlastek „Moravské“ se objevuje teprve v roce 1437. V roce 1519 již celé Knínice patrily k panství veverskému.
O významu obce svedcí také existence obecní peceti. Pecet nese ve znaku podrývák, což je staré zemedelské náradí, sloužící ke kyprení pudy a vinarský nuž. Ze symbolu vychází soucasný znak obce.
Uprostred vesnice stojí památkove chránený kostel postavený v roce 1366 ve slohu gotickém a je zasvecen sv. Markéte. Obec byla samostatnou farností až do roku 1562, pak byla sloucena s farností kurimskou. V presbyteriu jsou dochovány vzácné fresky. Ve veži kostela jsou dva zvony z první pol. 16. století.
Pozoruhodnou dominantou je památkove chránená kaple sv. Cyrila a Metodeje postavená v roce 1862. Obraz nad oltárem zachycuje príchod bratru Cyrila a Metodeje do Velehradu na Morave za casu krále Rostislava roku 863.
Na východním vjezdu do obce se nachází kaple sv. Jana Nepomuckého postavená v roce 1856.
Nejstarším verejným svetským objektem byla puvodní budova školy postavená v roce 1811. Budova však v roce 1860 vyhorela pri velkém požáru s celou radou dalších domu. Nová škola byla postavena v centrální cásti obce vedle kostela v roce 1882, puvodne jako prízemní, nyní má dve podlaží. V obci je také materská škola postavená v šedesátých letech. Do základní školy docházejí žáci do 1.–5. rocníku. Soucástí školy je školní jídelna a družina. Od 6. rocníku dojíždí deti do škol v okolí.

Evidence of settlement area date back to the Stone Age. The first mention of the village can be found in a document from 1235 in which Pope Gregory IX. he took under his protection Cistercian monastery in Predklášterí Tisnova.
