The Shirley Hughes dedicated bench in near the Canyon View Road entrance about a third of the way into the cemetery.
Shirley Hughes was born in 1936 and passed away on March 17, 2011
Canyon View Cemetery is within the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional District and was dedicated in 1968. There are approximately 18,000 interments.
There is an impressive Veteran section; each gravesite has a cross with the traditions Canadian poppy. We estimate there are over 300 veterans interred here. The poppy was inspired by the poem "In Flanders Fields" written by John McCrae in May 1915.
