Cockburn War memorial was erected in 1922 on a site in Sussex Street, Spearwood. During the 1970s the memorial was moved to a more prominent location on the corner of Rockingham Road and Carrington Street in the grounds of the Memorial Hall (built 1925).
The Front of the memorial is inscribed with -
"The Great War 1914-1919
Erected by residents of Spearwood 1922"
One side has the names of those who enlisted while on the opposite side are the names of the fallen. The reverse side has those who fell in World War 2
