La pointe est accessible par la sortie 180 de l’autoroute 40 et elle donne un excellent aperçu du potentiel ornithologique du lac Saint-Pierre. De juin à octobre, lorsque le niveau d’eau du lac est normal, les rives sablonneuses et limoneuses sont souvent occupées par plusieurs espèces d’oiseaux de rivage comme les Bécasseaux, les Pluviers, les Chevaliers, les Barges, les Phalaropes etc. D’autres surprises peuvent se trouver temporairement sur les lieux comme la Mouette de Sabine, la Sterne hansel et le Goéland brun, notamment; la Sterne caspienne, présente à la « pointe ». Depuis 2008 un ajout d'une passerelle Yamachiche permet d’observer des Passereaux, des Pics et des Grimpereaux tout le long de ses 576 mètres de trajet; ses deux belvédères permettent de voir les Hirondelles, les Sternes, les Goélands, les Mouettes, les Canards, les Cormorans, les Hérons, les Butors et plusieurs autres espèces, sans oublier les Buses, les Faucons, les Éperviers, les Pygargues, les Busards et les Balbuzards, tous des rapaces présents à la période automnale. Plus de 200 espèces oiseaux toute catégorie ont été recensés le long du territoire de la Pointe-Yamachiche.
L'Association ZIP vise à donner au site une visibilité accrue sur le plan touristique tout en confortant sa vocation ornithologique par la création d’un sentier ornithologique composé de divers panneaux d’interprétation de la faune aviaires et de 52 photographies.
Au total d’une superficie de près 75 hectares, il est géré par le ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune et le ministère des Transports du Québec et une participation du comité ZIP ainsi que la municipalité.

The tip is accessible from exit 180 of Highway 40 and gives an excellent overview of ornithological potential of Lake St. Pierre. From June to October, when the level of the lake water is normal, muddy and sandy shores are often occupied by several species of shorebirds like sandpipers, Plovers, the Knights, the barges, the Phalaropes etc. Other surprises may be temporarily on places like Sabine's Gull, the billed Tern and Black-backed Gull, including; Caspian Tern, presents the "tip". Since 2008 an addition of a Yamachiche gateway allows to observe Songbirds, Peaks and Creepers along 576 meters of its path; two gazebos allow to see Swallows Terns, Gulls, Gulls, Ducks, Cormorants, herons, the Bitterns and several other species, not forgetting the Jets, Falcons, the Hawks, the eagles, the Harriers Ospreys and all raptors present at the fall season. Over 200 bird species have been identified any class along the territory of Pointe Yamachiche.
The ZIP Association aims to give the site increased visibility for tourism while strengthening its ornithological mission through the creation of an ornithological path composed of various panels of interpretation of the avian fauna and 52 photographs.
