A 19th century flood washed away the original falls; this sturdier version, with several drops adding up to 54 ft., was created in 1989. Visible from southbound I-44 or park walking trail.

The new waterfall is the result of the "Put The Falls Back" campaign in 1986. The non-profit Wichita Falls Streams and Valleys organization wanted to bring back the cities namesake.
