From Roadside America Website:Seguin’s title-holder, a half-ton creation that sat atop a monument on its courthouse lawn since 1962, was surpassed by a six-ton behemoth built by George and Elizabeth James just outside of Brunswick, Mo in 1982.
In late 2011, Seguin regained the title with a new champion 16 feet long and 8 feet wide, indisputably the world’s largest. “As the Pecan Capital of Texas,” said Sherry Nefford-Esse, Pres. of the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce, “we felt we had to have the World’s Largest Pecan.”
Visitors to Seguin can visit the Chamber and get a map to locate the 1962 Pecan and the new 2011 Pecan. There is also a 2005 Pecan.
Chamber office is at 116 N. Camp Street. They are open M-F 8:30-5 and Saturday 9-1.
