This is a steel, round-lidded survey marker, designated as a PM 161765, which is stamped on a metal plate. There is a section of 'star-picket' in the box to identify the required spot. You may require a lever to open the lid for your photo.

PM 161765 is just uphill from the Mooral Creek community hall, and next to a large (strainer) fence post of a friend's property. The fellow worker had known about my interest in survey markers (and geocaching), and when we had a work Xmas party out there in 2012 they showed me where this one is. It was covered by long grass - kikuyu, and would have been hard to find.
When I went back this year (Aug 2015) it had been recently used.
Some information from this could be used to help find a Letterbox cache in the Mooral Creek area. Which was originally placed in a slightly different place (to now), back in 2012.
