In Augusta, near historic Fort Western, is the Augusta Municipal Offices.

The building is located within an area known as The City Complex, which includes the offices as well as the fort. There is a driveway and parking lot off Cory Street and just west of a complex rotary and on the eastern bank of the Kennebec River.

The building is a modern structure, three stories tall. The materials used include brick and stone facing. Much of the upper floors overhang the bottom floor, providing a walkway that is protected from the elements.

The city of Augusta is a moderate sized city of 19,100 people (2010) and is the third smallest state capital in the U.S (it was made the capital of Maine in 1827). It is a city type government. In additional to hosting the state government, Augusta once had a thriving printing industry. The area around the offices are the location of one of the oldest English settlements - a trading post that existed in the 1620s, before Fort Western.

Wikipedia stated that in the 1980s the city government was moved across the river to this location. Thus, the building was likely built in the 1980s. The date entered below is approximate.
