The McCroskey House was built in 1917 by George Edwards. It was originally located near the intersection of Pecos and Dobson Roads in what was to become Chandler. The area, at that time, would have consisted of miles of cotton and alfalfa. The house was ordered from a catalog for $600 and shipped on the railroad in thousands of pieces. The McCroskey family purchased the house from Edwards in 1934 and lived in it through 1967. It was donated to the City of Chandler in 1997. The house has never had electricity or running water.
