As the story goes, Little Willie Adams was captured by some Tories in the area and refused persistant persuasion to reveal the location of hidden goods and a Patriot hiding in the area. The Tories hung Little Willie for his refusal to cooperate.

Later after the Tories left the area, locals came out to retrieve Little Willie from the gallows only to find he was still alive. He survive this heinous act by the Tories and lived to fight in the Revolutionary War.
