These busts are on display at three historic oil locations. The original resides outside the Gaston Museum near Joinerville, TX. The second is in Conroe, TX. There the bust rests in Candy Cane Park at the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County. This third bust is displayed in Sesquicentennial Plaza. During the East Texas boom in the 30s, Kilgore had the densest number of wells in the world. Today’s World’s Richest Acre Park displays a pumping unit and the city has restored dozens of derricks from Kilgore’s boomtown era.

The Joe Roughneck bust wears a hard hat and has a band-aid on his proper left cheek. The bust is mounted on a tall, rectangular, gray granite pedestal.
