In Augusta, along Water Street, is the Riverfront Barbecue and Grille Restaurant, which was a nice place to stop and can accommodate gluten free needs.
The restaurant is located at 300 Water Street, on the west side of the road, and south of Market Square. The restaurant is on the first floor.
The restaurant is definitely a BBQ type restaurant, with busts, dolls, and posters about Elvis here and there, and other things in a Memphis theme. We were there in the middle of the day on a Sunday, so there weren't many people there. We found this place listed on Yelp.com as having gluten-free food.
Being a BBQ place, there is heavy emphasis on meat, naturally. But, if you are a vegetarian, don't count it out. There are not any special gluten-free menus or markings on a menu. However, we had talked with our wait staff who went to talk with the chef, and came back with options. The option chosen was a 'deconstructed burrito' where the rice, grilled vegetables, cheese, beans and salsa - no bread type item - on the plate. The meal was deemed very good.
