First presbyterian traces its roots back to 1793, when the first families came together. Official establishment date is 28 September 1800.
The original meeting house was in use from 1807 until 1853, when the current church was built. For a time, the clock served as the official timepiece of the City of Rome.
Throughout its long history, the church has had only 11 pastors.
