From the junction at milepost 12.60 on U.S. Hwy. 20 east of Bend, go south along the old alignment of the highway (pre 1970) for 0.70 miles, then turn right along the Old Bend-Burns Road (pre 1927 route) and go south another 2.65 miles to the location. The chiseled square is located 39 feet west of the road centerline on top of a lava rock outcrop. The chiseled square was probably made prior to 1920 based on benchmark histories in the area.
