The sign reads:
"the Golden Eagle
Past, Present , and Future
In Old England, only Kings were allowed to hunt golden
eagles. One of the largest and most regal birds of prey, the
golden eagle has long been hunted, especially by farmers,
who mistakenly believed that it preys on poultry and farm
animals. Its habitats are also threatened by the reduction
of open areas where the eagle hunts. Insecticides have
played a part in the inability of eagles to breed.
Despite environmental bans on many
chemicals, poisoning remains the
golden eagle's greatest threat."
