60 ft tall by 100 ft wide mural depicting General Peter Gansevoort riding a charger during the Siege of Fort Stanwix in 1777.
The mural was completed in September 2001 by noted local artist Jane Grace Taylor, a retired City of Rome teacher.
The mural was completed with about 99% donations from the public. The artist wanted to paint a colonial soldier to tie into the area's rich colonial and revolutionary history.
It is often mistaken for Paul Revere's Midnight Ride, but the artist emphatically ties it to Gen Gansevoort.
