This bell tower with a single bell stands on top of an arch forming the main entrance into the old town of Faro.

The facade of the arch was built in 1812 by Italian architect Xavier Fabri for Bishop Dom Francisco Gomes do Avelar.
It was built on top of an earlier Moorish entrance in the walls, which can still be seen in the middle of the arch.
The bell is suspended in a stone arch with a pediment above it. Just below the bell is a clock
