This work is one of dozens pieces by Icelandic artist Ásmundur Sveinsson for whom the adjacent Museum is named.This 1934 marble sculpture depicts a nude man...standing with a shovel. His right foot weighs on the shovel to help him dig into the soil.
The 1934 marble work is entitled "Gardyrkjamur" for which Google provides no translation.
