This sundial is embedded in the Mayor James Baxter Memorial at Vassah Avenue - too bad it's shady here.

In Portland, near the intersection of Baxter Boulevard and Vassah Avenue, is a memorial for Mayor James Baxter, with a sundial embedded in the memorial.
The memorial is located about 100 feet from the intersection, on the south side of Vassah Avenue.
The monument is made of white stone and is a circular platform with three benches, somewhat arranged around the raised sundial. The sundial itself is bronze with a circular face and angle. The numbers are in Roman numerals. 'Baxter Boulevard' is embossed on the face.
The memorial is for Mayor James Baxter, who commissioned the design of the parkway and green space around Back Cove. The road is now known as Baxter Boulevard.
At the time of the visit - mid morning, the sundial was partially in shade.
Sundial Type: Horizontal - Flat base, Ground or Pedestal mounted dial plate
