In Portland, at the western edge of the main parking lot, is this sign for Portland area parks, with a marker locating where you are along Back Cove.
The sign is located near the intersection of Baxter Boulevard, Preble Street, and Preble Street Extension. It is at the northwest corner of the parking lot and along the walking path.
The sign is about the park system around Portland, with a focus on Back Cove. The map shows Portland and close suburbs. Parks are shown in dark green. The trails between parks are shown as red dots. There are red circles with numbers on them - which are listed on another panel with names of these spaces. On the other side is history and habitat information about Back Cove, specifically.
Over the cove are the words, "You are here" in red, with a red arrow pointing down to a blue circle in the water. The circle is...close. If it were exactly there, you would be wading in the cove while reading the sign.
Close enough.
