The following obituary is from The Florida Times-Union:
"CLYATT Jack Irvin Clyatt, Sr., 72 of Mayport, FL, died March 23, 2006 at Memorial Hospital. He was born April 9, 1933 in Tampa, FL and moved to the Jacksonville area 39 years ago. Jack retired from Moran Towing and St. John's River Ferry Service as a Chief Engineer. He held a license as a Marine Engineer from the United States Coast Guard and an Unlimited Diesel license. He was a member of the Master, Mates and Pilots, the Masonic Lodge and served in the U.S. Army. Family members include his son, Jack Clyatt, Jr.; daughter, Julie (Alex) Samaras; granddaughter, Amanda Lauren Canipe, all of Tampa, FL; brother, George Clyatt of North Carolina and many good friends, including, Ronnie McCalister, Melvin Culbreath and Charles Haworth. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 31st in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz, a Family Funeral Home. Graveside Masonic services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1st in the Tillotson Cemetery. Services under the direction and care of Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home and Cremation Centre."
