An old 1888 church near the Columbia river. The town it was erected for no longer exists. All that's left are the orchards and vineyards that surround it.

Maryhill Community Christian Church was erected in 1888 for the now nonexistent town of Columbus, Washington. When the railroad came through much of the town was condemned so the railroad could be built. Most of the people moved North 13 miles to the to the town of Goldendale. There are still a few orchards and vineyards in this thin strip of land between the Columbia River and the high Columbia Gorge bluffs. The land above the bluffs is barren so almost no one lives up there. The church sits adjacent to a peach orchard and when we visited it smelled delicious!
This church is on the US Register of Historic Places. It was listed in 1991.
