There is no fee to visit the sculpture garden which can be accessed at any time.
This work is one of dozens of pieces by Icelandic artist Ásmundur Sveinsson for whom the adjacent Museum is named.
It is entitled "Modir min i Kvi kvi" for which I could find no translation other than the first word which means "Mother". However, the phrase seems to be related to some well-known Icelandic ghost story. See (visit link)
The 1943 work depicts a nude woman sitting or squatting...almost in a position of childbirth. But an infant of about a year old is between her legs with his arms on her legs and looking up at her.
