In Scarborough, along Maine Route 9, is Scarborough Marsh, where there is a small visitor center run by Maine Audubon, where canoes and kayaks can be rented to paddle in the marsh.
The visitor center is located about a mile east of U.S. Route 1 on a road heading toward Pine Point. The center will be on the left. If you end up parking on the eastbound side, be very careful when crossing the road - the cars go pretty fast here.
Scarborough Marsh is flat water that curves upon itself through open grass areas.
