Die Kapelle ist ein in der Denkmalliste des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz aufgeführtes Kulturdenkmal.
Siechenhäuser waren im 11. bis 18. Jahrhundert Quarantänehäuser, meist außerhalb der Ortschaften, in welchen man "dahinsiechende" Menschen verwahrte, um die anderen Dorfbewohner von ansteckenden Krankheiten zu verschonen.
Leider ist die Kapelle normalerweise abgeschlossen, so daß man das Innere nicht besichtigen kann.
