DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1943 11.1 MI N FROM CRESCENT LAKE. ABOUT 11.1 MILES NORTH ALONG THE ELK LAKE ROAD FROM THE RAILROAD STATION AT CRESCENT LAKE, KLAMATH COUNTY, 0.8 MILE NORTHWEST OF DAVIS LAKE RANGER STATION, SET IN THE TOP OF A ROCK OUTCROP, ON THE SOUTHWEST EDGE OF DAVIS LAKE, 46.0 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, 3.0 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A WHITE REFERENCE POST.
This description is out of date but the location is shown on the USGS Hamner Butte quadrangle. The benchmark can be reached from the junction of F.S. Rds. 4660, 4664, and 4668 south east of Davis Lake. From the junction go northeast on F.S. Rd. 4660 for 2.75 miles and park at overgrown gated road to the east. Walk down the overgrown road for 0.10 mile to the lake shoreline and then follow the shoreline (and old historic road trace) south about a half mile to the benchmark location. The rock outcrop is nearly obscured by trees.
