This Arun District Council blue plaque indicates that the clockmaker, Thomas Walder, "lived in a house on this site". The plaque is attached to a building on the north east side of Arundel High Street and next to it is a clock with a stone face.

The Still There website has a brief article about Thomas Walder that tells us:

Thomas was a prominent clock and watchmaker in Arundel and is the only Walder so far to have the benefit of a blue plaque in the High Street. His shop has been replaced by a later building but his original town clock is still there, albeit with a new face.

Thomas left a detailed notebook which is now in Arundel museum. The museum has also produced a pamphlet on Thomas which includes pictures of his notebook and some of his clocks. I am not sure at this point if it is still available.

The 1851 census records Thomas as a retired watchmaker, widower, age 84, living in Tarrant Street, Arundel.
