This work is one of dozens pieces by Icelandic artist Ásmundur Sveinsson for whom the adjacent Museum is named.
The bronze piece is entitled "Galdramagur" which translated from Icelandic means "Sorcerer".
The sculpture straddles the line between figurative and abstract. The bronze 1948 piece evokes the form of a being....(we can see something of a head an an eye) with arm-like appendages held in front of its chest with the hands meeting at waist level. The "hands" look more like scoops.
